Throwing the Best Housewarming Party Ever

You’ve finally moved into your new house. The boxes are all unpacked, things are put away and the mess is gone. You’ve lived through the whole ordeal, so now it’s time to celebrate by inviting everyone over!
A Successful Party Takes Planning
Take the time you need to plan your party so that you can relax and enjoy it. You will want to decide whether to have something elaborate like a sit-down dinner, or a casual outdoor get together. If you want, you can even make this a theme party, like “Roaring 20s” where you and your guests would get all dressed up to match the theme. You’ll also want to prepare enticing invitations and send them out a week or two in advance. Make sure you have an RSVP date on your invitations so that you know exactly who and how many are coming.
Prepare Your Home for a Crowd
To accommodate the expected crowd, you will need to make sure you have sufficient supplies on hand. Your bathroom will probably be in constant use, so stock it up with toilet paper, hand towels and soap. You’re going to need seating for all your guests, so you may need to move things around a bit. You can even rent extra tables, chairs and cloths from a local party supply business if the weather is nice and you are planning a large backyard gathering.
Put Away Breakable Items
When there are crowds, there’s always the chance of something being damaged. If you have antique furnishings or fragile valuables you need to put them out of the way for safe keeping. As people keep coming in, things can get crowded and guests can accidentally bump into furniture and shelves. If you have crystal figurines or plates out on display, I would put them away where they can’t get broken.
Plan Where to Place Food & Beverages
This is the perfect opportunity to show off the best features of your home, so if you place appetizers in the vicinity, people will notice. For example, if the view from the veranda is breathtaking, place the open bar out there. Or, if you have a gorgeous antique end table, place some fancy finger foods on it. This is how you can direct your guests’ attention without saying a word.
Memorialize Your Memories
You’ll definitely want to have vivid memories of your housewarming party, and the best way to do this is with photos. If you have a Polaroid camera, you can take pictures and print them out right there, or just use your phone like most people do these days and post them on Instagram. For close family members, you may want to make them each an album filled with photos from the party.
